Marsa Alam Carries out This Amazing Program to Spay and Neuter Its Stray Dogs

With countless stories of dogs being brutally poisoned in the streets of Egypt, it’s quite refreshing to see that other places are opting for something safer. In an attempt to control and manage the stray dogs’ epidemic in Marsa Alam, the Red Sea governorate has decided to neuter stray dogs.

In collaboration with “Bluemoon Animal Center Hurghada,” along with directorate of Veterinary Medicine, Marsa Alam has now become the first city in Egypt to follow the neutering method, which has been implemented in most countries all over the world.

Their plan is to perform the surgery on stray dogs for a year and to place a plastic mark on the dogs’ ears that had the surgeries. After the surgeries, the dogs will also be under observation – 12 hours for the male dogs, and 24 hours for the females.

Vets from Bluemoon Animal Center started phase one on the dogs during February for two days and will go back to nurturing more dogs starting March 21st.

WE SAID THIS: We’re so happy that the dogs aren’t being butchered like we’ve seen recently, and we hope that this becomes an actual law in all of Egypt.
