Henderson took to social media to share the news, expressing his gratitude towards Liverpool and its supporters. In a heartfelt post, he wrote, “It’s hard to put these last 12 years into words and it’s even harder to say goodbye. I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you for everything. You’ll never walk alone.”

The announcement has left fans with mixed emotions. On one hand, they understand that players come and go in the world of football, but on the other hand, Henderson has become an integral part of Liverpool’s success in recent years. His departure marks the end of an era for both him and the club.

During his time at Liverpool, Henderson has achieved remarkable feats. He joined the club in 2011 from Sunderland and quickly established himself as a key figure in midfield. Over the years, he played a crucial role in Liverpool’s triumphs, including winning numerous domestic and international titles.

However, it was not just his performances on the pitch that endeared him to fans; it was also his leadership qualities that made him stand out. In 2015, Henderson was appointed captain of Liverpool following Steven Gerrard’s departure. Under his captaincy, he led the team to unprecedented success, including winning the Premier League title in 2020 after a 30-year wait.

As news broke about Henderson’s move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq, questions arose about his motivations for leaving Liverpool. Some speculate that it could be a financial decision, while others believe he may be seeking a new challenge in his career. Regardless of the reasons, fans will always remember Henderson’s contributions to the club and the legacy he leaves behind.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp also expressed his gratitude towards Henderson, stating, “Jordan is an exceptional player and an even better person. He has been a fantastic servant to Liverpool Football Club and will always be regarded as one of the greats.”
