In Pictures: Pope Francis’ Historic Visits to the Middle East
Having previously visited the UAE, Israel, and the Palestinian territories, Pope Francis’ next destination is going to be Iraq. The trip will actually be the Pope’s first overseas trip since November 2019 because all planned visits for this year were unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic. The trip to Iraq, at the invitation of the Iraqi government and the local Catholic Church, is planned to take place from March 5th till the 8th, where Pope Francis will bring a “message of peace” to Baghdad, Irbil, Mosul, and Qaraqosh, he will also visit the ancient city of Ur since it’s the birthplace of the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish patriarch Ibrahim.
In light of this delightful news, we thought to give you a throwback to the best moments of the Pope’s visits in the Middle East.
