In Pictures: Coptic Community Turns Homes Into Mini-Churches to Celebrate the Holiest Week of the Year

With the end of Palm Sunday begins the Holy Week, the holiest and most important week of the year for Christians, as it marks the last week of Lent; it’s the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. This time is sacred for Christians, with special prayers being held every day of the week, as they relive the events leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

Since all the churches have been closed to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Coptic community decided to create their own mini-churches at home, using pictures, candles, a cross, prayer books, and watching recorded prayers on TV.
