How to Give Back to the Middle East This Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan is the ninth month according to the Islamic calendar; it’s the month that’s observed by Muslims worldwide to be the month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. The spirit of Ramadan, however, is not just about fasting, as Muslims are urged to give back to their communities. To donate their “zakat” to a charitable organization, financially help a struggling family, or contribute to building a charitable project in their community are all forms of expressing empathy, generosity, and truly embracing Ramadan’s spirit of giving.
Annually, the Middle East helps its communities to pay their “zakat” by setting up donations and charitable activities. Below we’ve listed a few of the initiatives and organizations that you should remember when making your next donation.
