From The US to Iran, This is How Arab Nations Are Giving Back During the COVID-19 Crisis
One cannot be more proud of being an Arab nowadays, as Arab countries are racing to give back and send aid to the world during the COVID-19 pandemic! Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and other countries are making headlines daily for sending aid packages to other countries that are struggling with the pandemic.
Egypt has sent medical aid to Italy and the United States, two of the countries that are struggling the most during the outbreak. The same thing happened with Iran, as the region moved past the political disputes and sent millions of dollars worth of medical aid to their neighbor amid the crisis, including Kuwait and the UAE.
The UAE has always been known for being on the forefront of charity and humanitarian aid, but since the spread of the pandemic, the Gulf Nation has taken things to the next level. The UAE’s aid planes have carried approximately 260 tonnes of medical and food supplies to 24 countries in the region and beyond since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The UAE sent 20 tonnes of supplies to China and airlifted 215 Arab nationals who were stranded there. It also helped in setting up a 4,000-bed field hospital, NHS Nightingale, and sent two planes carrying medical supplies to Pakistan. Thirteen tonnes of medical supplies meant for thousands of health care workers were also dispatched to Kazakhstan, Italy, Ukraine, Croatia, Seychelles and Greece; and the list goes on!
Same goes with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, spending hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to the UN, WHO, and a huge number of countries in the region and beyond.
