From Deadpool to Chief Island Officer: Ryan Reynolds Shakes Up Yas Island
You might all know him as the unfiltered and unapologetic wisecracking superhero Deadpool or as the hilarious husband of Blake Lively, who knows how to keep us on our toes on Twitter. Today, Ryan Reynolds takes on a completely different role: that of the chief island officer of Yas Island.
Yes, you heard that right. The Deadpool actor takes on the role after Jason Momoa, who was last year’s chief island officer. For weeks, fans of Yas Island were buzzing with excitement over who would take on this new role, and when they found out it was Reynolds, they knew they were in for a wild ride.
Known for his comedic chops, it makes sense that his teaser campaign for Yas Island was packed with humor. In the video, we see Reynolds skydiving onto W Abu Dhabi Hotel only to find himself missing his landing spot and instead landing directly on top of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix circuit.
Now, as the chief island officer for Yas Island, his role is to showcase all that the island has to offer. That is why in the video, you’ll see him sliding down the Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi slides, whizzing around on rollercoasters at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi, and playing a game of golf on the island’s greenery.
Trying out all these experiences in Yas Island impressed the actor, who gushed about Ferrari World: “Like most people, I’ve never driven a Ferrari. But the world they’ve built is so immersive. It’s impossible not to be awed by these cars, which are works of art. And the rides will leave you absolutely breathless. I’ve never seen rides that fast. Incredible.”
We are excited to see more of what the actor will do with his role as the chief island officer and to learn more about what Yas Island has to offer.
