For the Record: The Ladies of Pop: Rihanna, Kylie, Mariah, Tinashe
- Let’s just agree that Rihanna‘s “Bitch Better Have My Money” was an absolute train wreck. Fortunately, her new one “American Oxygen” is doing a good job of helping us all move on, although it really depends on how you feel about American politics. The video showcases moments that have shaped American history, including clips of legendary musicians Bob Marley and The Beatles, who have undoubtedly become a huge part of the country’s pop culture despite not being American themselves, but then again… neither is Rihanna.
- Mariah Carey is releasing a greatest hits collection next month that will include her 18 number one hits as well as new single “Infinity”. The album will be titled #1 to Infinity, which builds on her 1998 compilation #1’s, and features a similar album cover.
- Disco king Giorgio Morodor has enlisted some of today’s top female vocalists including Britney Spears, Kelis and Charli XCX for his upcoming album Déjà Vu, and he’s just released the title track featuring vocals by Sia. Check out the new tune and his amazing Kylie Minogue duet below:
- Tinashe has stormed past one-hit-wonder status and is now all over the airwaves. Her recent singles include Ty Dolla $ign and Charli XCX collaboration “Drop That Kitty”, which has some fun vocal work, but otherwise… ew. Fortunately she redeems herself with new one “All Hands on Deck” which is pretty fantastic. Watch both brand new clips below:
