Foota Towels
So it seems like today is my lucky day as I finally got my interview with Kareem El-Nagdy.
I have been hearing about a new towel brand called “Foota” recently and all I could think about was how sometimes the simplest names could be the most catchy…
Brandcow , is the mother company of Foota where Kareem is not only a partner but also the Director of Operations. Surprisingly Kareem graduated from AUC with a Bachelor of Science but in the past 6 years managed to work in many fields such as logistics, event management, web development, branding, advertising and marketing. However, he’s currently focusing on Brandcow along with web and mobile development.
Getting back to Foota, Kareem told us all what we need to know about this cool new brand.
1) How did you come up with the idea of “Foota”?
Foota was a birth of an ideology that we have the ability to brand products that aren’t branded in Egypt and give it a local stamp with international standards. The biggest fashion brands produce their towels here in Egypt but we remained without a brand that gave this production quality a national identity. So we thought let’s be the risk takers and do such a thing.
2) How long did it take you to plan and prepare for this project? How hectic did it get?
Foota took about a year of planning and another 3 months for execution. The planning never stops really, because we are trying to introduce a new concept in Egypt and getting people used to a brand where consumers can trust and always look for in the market. Nothing comes easy and with enough determination, motivation, and financial ability you can do anything.
3) What makes Foota different from any other Egyptian cotton towels?
Foota is different because of its quality, design, and most importantly it’s branding. Each towel design has an idea behind it, a name, a feel and a character for the consumer. We at Foota take in account the smallest details in order to think like the consumer and attend to their needs. The designs for the towels are also limited, you won’t find more than 15-20 towels that are the same as yours in the market.
4) Where do you sell Foota?
Foota is sold in our Store in Diplomatic Village 3, North Coast, at Studio Zafir in Zamalek, Mall of Arabia, and HyperOne, Boutique Basha in Heliopolis, Soul Kite Surfing Center, La Haceinda in Ras Sedr, Options Furniture Store in Hurghada and online @ Souq.com
5) Any plans of opening other branches for your store?
It is definitely in the plans we are looking to open our own flagship store sometime in the coming year in Cairo while expanding our activations/retailers in more areas in Egypt and in the region.
