Egyptian Photographer, Bassam Allam, Wins 2018 Sony World Photography Awards

Egyptians keep raising the bar and we couldn’t be prouder. Photographer, Bassam Allam, just announced winning in 2018 Sony World Photography Awards. According to the 29-year-old Cairene, his photo ‘Portrait of Adima’ guaranteed him the first place while competing against 319,561 images submitted from 210 territories and countries.

The National Awards program runs amongst almost 70 countries to recognize and reward the best single image taken by a local photographer. Bassam is specialized in fashion and portrait photography and has been featured in publications such as Vogue Arabia and Vogue Italy. ‘Portrait of Adima’ and ‘Through the Glass’ have been also commended in the portraiture category of the Open Competition at the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards.

Other contestants who have been listed from around the region and are shortlisted are Don Ferdinand Tabbun from UAE and commended Nather AlAsyf from Saudi Arabia.
