Egypt Troops Clear Morsi Protests
Egyptian security forces have taken action. Reports of Dozens of people having been killed early this morning, when the police moved in to disperse 2 huge protest camps.
Until now, death count isn’t very accurate. The numbers vary from one TV channel to the other. Egypt’s interior Ministry reported that an officer and a conscript have been killed, describing their deaths as “martyrdom”.
” This is not an attempt to disperse, but a bloody attempt to crush all voices of opposition to the military coup”- Mr Haddad
With all the chaos going on in the streets at the moment, the military has managed to arrest a good number of the Muslim Brotherhood Leaders.
General Abdel Fattah Othman, a senior interior ministry said ” we have arrested a number of Brotherhood leaders but it’s too early to announce their names.”
Tear gas, weapons and violence is all that is seen and heard in the streets at the moment. The security forces surrounded the camp and fired tear gas at thousands of pro Morsi protesters so that they can move in and put this protest to an end.
“Tear gas was falling from the sky like rain. There are no ambulances inside. They closed every entrance,” protester Khaled Ahmed, 20.
“There are woman and children in there. God help them. This is a siege, a military attack on a civilian protest camp.” He said.
“100+ dead & 2000+ wounded” was what Haddad posted on twitter.
The authorities have given orders to stop all the train services in and out of Cairo, making sure that no extra pro Morsi supporters will head their way.
“Train services in and out of Cairo in all directions have been stopped until further notice…for security reasons and to prevent people from mobilising,” the railway authority said.
They have finished breaking up the smaller Nahda Square protest camp, and have managed to remove most of the tents.
The death toll since the army overthrew Mr Morsi on June 30th has reported to be in the 100s, and right now it’s getting even worse, with reporters reporting more deaths every minute.
May God be with Egypt.
