Ebony and Ivory Join Galleria 40: The Latest Creative Venture Representing Collaboration in Design
The idea of collaboration and joining forces always ends up producing richer results. In the case of design, diverse elements from different designers’ points of view foster a cooperative strategy with evidently better results. Stemming from their belief in embracing cultural fusion, Ebony & Ivory, one of the most well-established design firms in Egypt and abroad, recently started a creative venture with Galleria 40 called Home Deco.
The venture gives Ebony & Ivory the chance to showcase their products along with other designers’ work where furniture can gain a new identity by being shown in a different light. Their work is displayed with Mahinaz El Messiry, founder of Mahinaz El Messiry Design, Shosha Kamal, an award-winning designer, Samer Khodier, artist and photographer, Hoda Lasheen, another award-winning international designer, and Am Sol’s vintage collection.
When you’re putting together a ‘home’ you don’t want it to look like the showroom located at our factory. Quite often when we create homes, we could also use products by other designers.
Mohamed Said Wahb, Design Director and CEO of Ebony & Ivory
Ebony & Ivory have collaborated with a number of designers within their own collection, including Hadia El Sallab, Cherif Morsy, Ganzeer, and Samer Khodier. Although they aim to soon be present in West Cairo, being in Galleria 40 gave them a taste of that. The setup of the furniture there, which is a hand picked selection from their Alphabet Home Collection, makes it seem as if it has been reinvented. Ebony & Ivory has also been collaborating with several big names and labels on some impressive projects, including all the woodwork in Nile Secon.
Like many other organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic was a total game-changer. However, Ebony & Ivory chose to flip the scenario and use it to their advantage as they began experimenting with how people could work in alternative ways, and expanding in remote coastal areas. Because of that, they’re now present in Soma Bay, where they furnished several homes during quarantine.
Established in Egypt in 1997, Ebony & Ivory is a design company that was originally focused on interior design for residential and contract spaces. Due to their passion and excellence in design, creation, and experimentation, Ebony & Ivory expanded their scope of work, and it now includes furniture design, furniture production, interior architecture, and general architectural project consultancy.
