‘Countdown2Ceasefire’: A Campaign Demanding Gaza Freedom Before 2024

With hours left to the New Year, millions of people all over the world are planning how and where to celebrate the countdown for 2024; there are others who remain restless and unassured, feeling the need to also put an end to plight in Gaza, and there is no better opportunity than crowding for counting down for a ceasefire in Gaza instead, while the world is watching.

Now there is a global call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza has been started by a grassroots campaign — Countdown2Ceasefire — in London by a group of young activists who came together through social media. They have triggered a TikTok trend were content creators all over the world are shooting videos of themselves calling for a ceasefire countdown.

The campaign has been embraced by over 40 countries, to stop the brutal killing of civilians and save the lives of the people in Gaza. The recent campaign has already gained momentun in Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

In order to expand its scale, the campaign is calling on people to use the hashtag, shout Ceasefire Now at the moment of the New Year’s countdown, and shooting videos announcing its support. One question remains, will they manage to make this work, and will the dark cloud over Gaza make way for a fresh sunlight?
