Cairo Opera House Expects 8 Spectacular Performances by Russia’s “Moscow Ballet On Ice”

Cairo is expecting spectacular eight performances of the Russian group Moscow Ballet on Ice. The performances are scheduled to take place at The Cairo Opera House within the month of February.

Cairo Opera House announced that the performances will start on Feb. 20, and will continue every night from 8 p.m. until Feb. 24, along with 11 a.m. shows on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23.

The highly-praised troupe will perform their own versions of Cinderella and Swan Lake.

Moscow Ballet on Ice was founded in 2009 on the artistic vision of the Russian Figure Skating Star and European Champion Igor Poprin, who decided to form a group including the most talented figure skaters in the country.

The strong dramatic construction, distinguished graceful movements, and unique skating technique are the most defining characteristics of the troupe that has been performing all over the globe since 2009.

A history of royalty at Cairo Opera house

Cairo Opera House is one of the most beautiful examples of post-modern architecture in Egypt. Its basic shape was designed by the Italian architects Avoscaniego and Rossiego in 1869 during the rule of Khedive Ismail to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal.

In 1971, the building was completely burnt down, and it was rebuilt in 1988 according to a redesign by a Japanese architect.

Ever since its construction, it hosts the most distinguished musicians and dancers from around the world, and it has been an icon of prestigious arts including ballet and opera performances by the most graceful royalty houses such as the French and Russian royalty opera and ballet houses.
