Australia’s First Female Muslim MP Slayed the Runway at Sydney Fashion Week
Australian luxury label for women, Thomas Puttick, has been driven by its vision for a more positive future of fashion, and when it took over Sydney Fashion Week on Monday, it was no surprise that diversity was the theme of the show.
Instead of hiring models for their show, they decided to show their new collection with everyday women. The show boasted diversity, beauty, and familiar Australian faces. The one face that made huge headlines was MP, Anne Aly.
Anne Aly might not be a known name for us, but she’s Australia’s first Muslim MP. Aly was born in Alexandria, Egypt and moved to Australia with her family at the age of two. Aly graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors in English Literature.
WE SAID THIS: YES for minorities representation in the fashion industry!
