Cairo people, rejoice! We here at Scoop Empire are joining forces with the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for one jazzy musical affair!

The U.S Embassy is welcoming Chelsey Green – a contemporary jazz violinist – and the Green Project as part of the State Department’s American Music Abroad program; a program that introduces the music of America’s roots to a new international audience.

This year’s AMA program – Al Hakawatya, meaning The Storytellers – will see Chelsey Green and the Green Project collaborating with local Egyptian talents to change conventional ideas about the violin and viola by fusing traditional, classical technique with various genres including R&B, Pop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Alternative, Hip Hop and Gospel.

Chelsey Green and the Green Project will be paired up with Egyptian indie folk singer Dina El Wedidi. Oh, and there’s more! Grammy winner music producer Fathy Salama will be creating a 30-minute musical fusion between American jazz music and Egyptian folk, and we could only imagine how eargasmic that’ll be.
