Al Asly: An Original Egyptian Show That’s Got Everyone Talking

Social media has been in a frenzy ever since a streaming platform dropped, “Al Asly” an Egyptian drama starring Riham Abdel Ghafour, Manal Salama and Youssef Othman.

The plot follows Fatma Al Asly played expertly by Abdel Ghafour as she navigates her father’s will where she’s tasked with the mission of splitting the money and assets amongst her siblings.

Viewers have been posting to their feeds describing how Fatma epitomizes tough love. From having her siblings’ back, always getting them back up when they fall to reprimanding them in out-of-the-box ways, the show has been trending for the way in which the character carries herself. Some even say that she’s the Abdel Ghafour El Bouri’s female counterpart due to her street savviness while others have made a rundown of how the name “Fatma” translates across Egyptian TV history.

Aside from her strong character that’s easily quotable, the show has been trending over social media for its shocking moments where the dynamic between the siblings has everyone on the edge of their seats.

With 13 episodes airing thus far, its rich characters and intricate storyline has had heads turn with a focus on Abdel Ghafour’s performance having previously excelled at playing a weak woman in “Azmet Montasaf El Omr” to now Fatma who everyone fears.

Before capping 2022 off with successful productions like “Wesh W Dahr”, “207” and “The Killing,” now with two months in 2023, Ghafour has been in two shows with divergent characters along with her expected Ramadan show, “Rasheed” co-starring alongside Mohamed Mamdouh.
