President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum‘s Annual Meeting 2026, which is being held from January 19 to 23, under the theme ‘A Spirit of Dialogue‘. In his speech, he addressed the Palestinian conflict, welcoming the US announcement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
El-Sisi underscored that the Palestinian cause remains a top priority for the Middle East, representing the essence of regional stability and peace. He followed with an expression of appreciation for the efforts of US President Donald Trump, highlighting his commitment to ending hostilities in Gaza and mitigating the humanitarian suffering that has burdened the Palestinian people for more than two years.
He then recalled that the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, held on October 13, 2025, was the culmination of Egypt’s effort to bring a ceasefire, consolidate peace, and open horizons of hope for regional stability, emphasizing the necessity of building on the achievements of the Summit.

The President called for the reinforcement of the ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza, and acceleration of recovery and reconstruction for the strip. El-Sisi also welcomed the US announcement of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, describing it as a key step towards the implementation of the peace plan and de-escalation in the region
He reaffirmed that Egypt, drawing on its historic role in supporting the Palestinian cause, will spare no effort in engaging all relevant parties to achieve a just, comprehensive, and permanent solution based on international legitimacy.
