Absentee Award: Azaiza Accepts World Citizen Title All the Way From Gaza
From the midst of the blockade in Gaza, the war-stricken journalist Moataz Azaiza, who’s now known all over the world, receives the news of his newest accolade, the TRT Communication Award.
In Turkey, where the awards festival took place last Friday, a big crowd gathered. However, the most important person, the award receiver, was missing.
In a video filmed earlier in a car, Azaiza gives his acceptance speech where he apologized for not being able to make it to the awards. Laila Mokhiber, Director of UNRWA communication, accepted the award on his behalf.
His short video showed the feeling of threat and tragedy in Gaza and didn’t fail to mention the journalists who lost their lives reporting the happenings in the strip.
“I wish I could mention all the names of the journalists who lost their lives while they were showing the world the truth; I wish them all to rest in peace; I wish this war to end soon…”
