Now that the English Premier League season has come to an end, almost all teams are celebrating the achievements of their top players, and Stoke City has been showing love to none other than Egypt’s own Sarah Essam.
The 20-year-old footballer had her best season so far scoring 12 goals in 12 appearances, pushing her team to finish third in their opening season in the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League. Her exceptional efforts encouraged Stoke City FC management to award her the Stoke City Ladies’ Development Team’s Golden Boot award.
Before her debut match in Stoke City, the former Wadi Degla player used to play for the Egyptian National Football Team; she was only 16 years old! At that time, Essam competed for the African Cup qualification, making more than 20 international appearances for the Pharaohs.

Three years ago, Egypt along with the Arab World celebrated the achievements of Essam when she made it to Stoke City Ladies team. The then 18-year-old forward scored a goal on her debut and stated in an interview that followed that her goal was to get on top of the game.

In 2018, once again, she made it into the headlines, after winning the “Arab Woman of The Year: Achievement in Sport” award by the London Arab Foundation.
A role model for many young Egyptian girls, Sarah Essam is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the world of football. Her skill for the game has only been improving, and hopefully, we will get to hear from her in the upcoming season.
