Brexit shook the world this past weekend when the UK voted to leave the European Union after 48 years. The decision to leave the EU was fueled by racism, xenophobia, and pure ignorance that played on the fears of naive Brits.
The”leave” campaign was built on the foundation that immigrants, Muslims, and non-whites are a threat to the UK economy, jobs and safety, and that having their borders open will destroy their country. The harbored racism was not hard to find on social media, with absolutely terrifying stories and belligerent thoughts from racist Brits spreading across the Internet post-referendum making us lose a sense of hope in humanity.
