Young Man Commits Suicide by Jumping Off the Pyramid of Khafre
On Sunday, March 8, a young Egyptian man ended his life by jumping off the pyramid of Khafre in the Giza Plateau, according to Ahram Online; the incident is currently under investigation.
Reports by law enforcement officials revealed that the young man attended a concert held at the pyramids at the scene.
After a 12-hour standoff in which officers of the law attempted to talk the young man out of committing suicide, he jumped off a height of 100 meters to his death.
This is the second time in less than six months wherein a young man chooses to end his life by jumping off one of Greater Cairo’s most iconic monuments, sparking once more a conversation about mental health and suicide.
