Welcome to Egypt! Listing the countries that need a visa to visit the land of the Pharaohs
All EU & OECD countries (except Canada which needs an advance visa starting October 2023) as well as many Arab and Latin American countries can enter Egypt with a tourist E-visa or one on arrival for $25 USD for single entry and $60 USD for multiple entries.
This list however is aimed at the countries that require a visa and the exceptions that allow visa-free access to certain governorates or zones.
We took the liberty of dividing them by region or continent but rest assured that getting a tourist visa is not as daunting as applying to Western countries so apply ahead of time to enjoy a stress-free trip.
Arab Countries:
Gulf countries (except Qatar despite constantly improving relations) are not on the list, which corresponds to the states facing civil strife or war or issues with terrorism hence the need for a background check for males between the ages of 18 and 40 before coming here.

Africa
Featuring most of Sub-Saharan Africa, all these countries require visas with South Africa being the exception. Fortunately, Egypt has diplomatic representation in almost all of the continent (except for Botswana, Central African Republic, Guinea-Bissau Lesotho, and Swaziland) easing the visa application process.

The Balkans
As they are the only exceptions in Europe, these three countries: Kosovo, Moldova and Montenegro have a hard time gaining international recognition due to geo-politics and other reasons so naturally they would have a tougher time to gain entry to Egypt and a lack of Egyptian diplomatic missions there adds to this unfortunately.
Asia
Some countries on this list were a surprise for us personally as Egypt has very good relations with some of these nations and even has a big number of their citizens residing in Egypt like Armenia and Indonesia.
