Video: Ganna’s Guide to Cairo This Eid

The Eid vacation is upon us, and everyone has their travel plans ready. Some are planning to travel and spend their vacation in Cairo, and some Cairo residents are staying in as well. The most beautiful thing about Cairo during Eid is that it’s relatively empty and traffic is nearly non-existent.

If you’re spending your Eid in Cairo, our social media team is going to take you on a one-day journey with this guide of things to do, see, and eat. Check out the video below and get inspired for your Eid plans in Cairo.

Intercontinental City Stars

Book a day-use by the pool at Intercontinental City Stars. In addition to the food, drinks, and Instagrammable pool, the pool operates till 3 am! It opens from 6 am, but services are available starting 10 am.

Mohamed El Alfy Street

Take a walk by the iconic Mohamed El Alfy Street in Downtown as it’s full of cafes and restaurants to choose from and spend your day.

Eish W Malh

Downtown’s Eish W Malh is one of the best food spots in Cairo. You can go there to enjoy a meal or deliciously brewed fresh coffee, but our favorite is their chocolate chili ice-cream.

Groppi Garden

Groppi Garden in Downtown is one of the most chill breakfast spots in Cairo. Head there for your morning coffee and breakfast.

Zawya Cinema

Zawya is the main hub of independent movies in Cairo. However, they’ll also be screening commercial Eid movies. The Eid movie season is already intense, and you don’t want to miss out.

Estoril Bar

Estoril was founded back in 1957, making it one of the oldest restaurants and bars in Cairo. It’s an arabesque bar that you’ll love to photograph. The place’s interior hasn’t changed much over the years, thus, a trip there will take you back in time. Head there to enjoy some awesome cocktails or a glass of wine with your significant other.

Felouka

Enjoy one of the most iconic activities in Cairo by taking a felouka (mini boat) from Maadi, Downtown, or Zamalek. Enjoy the Nile and listen to some local music while enjoying the company of your friends.

Darb 1718

Darb 1718 is the hub of art and artists in the capital of Om el Dunya. There you can listen to live music by independent bands, check out art galleries by talented artists, and buy some handmade products. Check out their events calendar here.

Simply Neon

Simply Neon is a bar at the Holiday Inn City Stars and has a very interesting ’80s theme to it. You’ll find a disco ball, dance floor, neon signs, and everything you’d expect from an ’80s bar. They even have special mojitos that were popular during the seminal decade. The place hosts Karaoke nights every Wednesday, but it’ll be available through the entire Eid vacation. You can also enjoy your birthday party with a delish free cake and with no minimum charge for the birthday person. Moreover, every Thursday and Friday is a ladies’ free night!
