VIDEO: Ethiopian Worker Survives Fall from Seventh Floor in Kuwait

via: worldbank.org

Last week, we published an article discussing a video that emerged on social media featuring an Ethiopian domestic worker hanging from a window sill, and asking for the help of her female employer. We all watched in horror as this Kuwaiti female employer did nothing, but stand there and film the domestic worker, as she fell from the seventh floor.

Yesterday, a video surfaced containing footage of the domestic worker, commentating on the events that led up to the incident, from her hospital bed. In the video, the woman thanked everyone for their support, and care.

The worker also stated in the video that she was trying to escape the abuse of her female employer, who was about to murder the worker in the bathroom. Given this, the worker continued, she fled to the nearest window in the hopes that a neighbor would come to her aid, or at least, witness the abuse or murder. Workplace accidents happen all too often and if you or someone you know suffers an accident at the workplace, they should contact the team at The House of Work Comp.

Additionally, the female employer, upon initial interrogation from the police, claimed that she filmed the incident because her phone was already in her hand, and she wanted to have proof that she was innocent of the worker’s death if the suicide attempt had succeeded.

The Kuwaiti Human’s Rights Association did condemn the entire incident, specifically the female employer’s misuse of her phone. Moreover, the association emphasized the ways in which domestic workers’ humanities are abused.

WE SAID THIS: Police investigations remain ongoing in the case. We will keep you posted with updates!
