UAE Cabinet Reshuffle: Who are the new Ministers?

On Saturday, the 25th of September, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, announced a cabinet reshuffle.

Most notably, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has been appointed as Minister of Finance. His Highness already leads many integral roles in the UAE cabinet and government. His main responsibilities include stimulating economic growth and government performance. Additionally, he is chair of multiple organizations, including the Board of the Dubai Judicial Council, the Dubai International Financial Centre, and the Strategic Affairs Council of the Dubai Executive Council.

Furthermore, as Minister of Financial Affairs, Mohammed bin Hadi Ahmed Abdullah Al Hussaini is the new appointee. He also holds a position on the board of directors of the Investment Corporation of Dubai and the Emirates Investment Authority.

The new Minister of Climate Change and Environment is not a new face. Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almeheiri is the new minister in this position; however, she previously held the role of Minister of State for Food Security.

The new Minister of the Affairs of the Federal Supreme Council is Abdullah bin Muhair Al Ketbi, while the Minister of Justice is now Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Anwar is the newly appointed Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

These were some of the major shake-ups in the UAE cabinet, and they’re expected to bring about new avenues of prosperity for the country.
