Turning Humidity into Water: Dubai’s Innovative Approach to Keeping Delivery Drivers Hydrated

By Haydy Abdelhamid

In its latest groundbreaking initiative, RTA Dubai has partnered with Majid Al Futtaim Group to install three new water dispensers around the city that convert humid air into drinking water.

Currently set up at three rest points for delivery drivers, these cutting-edge dispensers generate 100 liters of drinking water every day. They work by extracting humidity from the air, purifying it, and providing clean water, which you can use to refill your bottle.

This innovative technology offers a vital resource for workers spending long hours outdoors, keeping them cool and hydrated during the scorching summer months. In addition to that, it contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing reliance on traditional water sources.

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the RTA Licensing Agency, highlighted the importance of this initiative:

“This partnership is a testament to the Authority’s commitment to working with the private sector to provide essential enablers to ensure the safety of delivery bike riders, which contributes to providing a safe and comfortable transportation system for all residents and visitors in Dubai and embodies the practice of social responsibility values on the part of Majid Al Futtaim Group.”

The initiative is also part of a broader RTA effort that includes creating 40 air-conditioned rest zones for delivery drivers. These zones provide a comfortable and safe space for workers to relax and recharge between shifts.

This is just another example of how Dubai constantly embraces cutting-edge solutions to improve everyday life.
