Tunisia’s World No. 3 Ons Jabeur Pulls Out Of Qatar Tournaments Amid Minor Surgery

World No.3 Ons Jabeur has announced her withdrawal from the upcoming Qatar Open (on Feb.13-18) and Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championship (Feb. 19-25) to undergo a minor surgery. The Tunisian player announced on Instagram her withdrawal as she was advised by her medical team to get the surgery in order to be back on the courts and be able to perform.

Jabeur sustained the injury and could be seen struggling affected her performance at the Australian Open on Jan 19. She was eliminated in the second round from former French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 5-7, 6-1.

Jabeur’s highest world ranking was No.2 in the world last year after reaching the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open. She then became the first Tunisian, North African, and Arab woman to ever reach the final at a grand slam tournament.

In total, Jabeur has three Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles championships to her name. In Birmingham, England, in June 2021, she defeated Russian Daria Kasatkina to win her first WTA Tour championship. In May 2022 in the Madrid Open, she won her second championship, and in June 2022 in Berlin, she won her third title. We wish her a speedy recovery!
