Top Skateboarders Head To Sharjah For Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifications

For the Street and Park 2022 World Championships, which serve as Olympic qualifying events for the 2024 Paris Games, the biggest names in skateboarding from around the globe will be traveling to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. This is due to the fact that skateboarding is beginning to gain popularity within the region as more athletes have become immersed in the sport. Thus, two qualifying contests featuring notable athletes in the sport will be held at the Aljada Skate Park in Sharjah.

The first event runs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 5, and the second from Feb. 5 to Feb. 12. All 12 medal winners from the 2020 Tokyo Games will compete, according to the tournament’s press release, with more than 300 other competitors. The venue, Aljada Skate Park, is one of the largest skating facilities in Sharjah and is located in Aljada Urban District, Sharjah’s largest infrastructure project. Over a 90,000 square foot space, there are currently six different parks included in the Skate Park complex.

Keegan Palmer, the Australian gold medal winner for the park discipline in Tokyo, said to Arab News that “Aljada is an amazing facility, the perfect location for an Olympic qualifier.” He went on to express his happiness to be at the most creative skate park in the region as it offers a thrilling challenge to the world’s best skaters.

The XDubai Skatepark is one of the best places for skateboarding in Dubai with a huge skatepark that is divided into two sections. The central space of the plaza is for seasoned skaters, and the low-intensity skate plaza is dedicated to beginners with a price of AED 75. Another example is the Al Mazhar Skatepark which is one of the few skateboarding places in Dubai that is open around the clock.
