Stolen Cannes Jewels Worth Close to $136M

Wearing a scarf to mask his face, this gunman stole jewels worth $136M.

The jewels got stolen from an exhibition held at the French resort city of Cannes on Sunday, the gems were supposed to have been on display until the end of August.

Apparently, the robber had a semiautomatic pistol and threatened to shoot the exhibitors and guests, the weird part about this was that the security guards were present but unarmed. Strange right?

Thankfully, no one was injured.

There were already 2 major jewel heists this year, at events ties to the Cannes Film Festival.

During the festival in May, which was sponsored by the Swiss firm Chopard, a necklace worth $2.6 million was stolen from a hotel party shortly after jewels  worth more that $1 million were stolen from a safe in a hotel room.
