Slickr Launches Online Shopping

Over the past year, our circular, yellow logo has been everywhere in Cairo, from events to social media, and now our homegrown fashion social network Slickr has launched an online shopping feature.

Slickr.co has been active and open to users for about six months. Since then, we have built a network of users who curate their own stream of content, sharing photos, videos and GIFs as well as following other users and their favorite brands.

11986256_882020448545798_816412977_oAs of this week, users can now buy from around 80 stores, making shopping easy, fast and engaging. The shopping process is really simple: You can shop through stores, items and other users. Fancy a cool bracelet? Click on the “Accessories” category, browse through all the options, pick your favorite, add to cart and have it delivered home within a week. Buyers pay cash on delivery and can make returns.

For some of these brands, Slickr is the first online platform where they can sell their products. We believe in supporting and empowering the fashion industry in Egypt, especially local designers. New brands and designers are expected to come on board in the coming weeks.

We are now working on a Slickr app that we expect to be truly one-of-a-kind in terms of features and user experience. We also plan to expand to Europe, starting with the fashion tech capital: London! In order to be able to grow and expand internationally, we are raising a round of investment that will hopefully be closed by the first quarter of 2016.
