Senior MOI Aide Gunned Down in Giza

Mohamed al-Saeed Saad El-Din Ahmed, a senior aide to Egypt’s Minister of Interior, was gunned down while leaving his house on Al-Haram St. on the west side of Cairo this morning, a presidential spokesman announced.

Ahmed was Director General of the Technical Office at the MOI. Government sources and state media claim that the incident was an “assassination”, but no entity has yet to take responsibility for the killing.

The Ministry released a statement on Facebook following the aide’s death, pledging to do whatever it takes to catch the culprits.

The MOI has been the focus of a string of attacks in the past year, including an assassination attempt on the Minister last fall and the Jan. 24 bombings that targeted police forces.
