Saudi Female Uber Drivers Can Now Filter Their Passengers by Gender
Uber recently announced the launch of its latest feature that is now available in Saudi Arabia. “Women Preferred View” is the suggested name; it allows drivers using the ride-hailing app to filter their next passenger by gender.
It basically connects female drivers to female passengers. In 2018, Uber tested the feature and has finally decided to launch it due to the increasing demand.
Tino Waked, the General Manager of Uber Middle East and North Africa said, “Last year, we announced the launch of Masaruky, an initiative aimed towards empowering women with economic opportunities by providing accessible transport solution. We have seen an incredible response in the kingdom thus far. As part of this initiative, this newly introduced feature will open new doors and opportunities for women as Uber driver-partners, while being conscientious of local cultural norms.”
The year 2019 has been a very busy one for Uber. As the transport service acquired Dubai-based ride-hailing service Careem last month for 3$ billion dollars.
