El Sherbini has been making history ever since she got into squash, and in 2009 at the age of 13, she became the youngest ever World Junior Champion, and in 2015, she won her first World Championship. However, 2016 was also a year of success where she became the first Egyptian female to win the British Open Squash Championship, one of the most prominent squash tournaments, where she was crowned as the World Champion for the second time!

This year’s win was a joined win as Ali Farag also won the 2020-21 Men’s PSA World Championship, making it the second time he’s won the World Championship, and making him the third Egyptian to win two titles consecutively.

It was Shorbagy’s and Gohar’s first time to play in the finals of the PSA World Championship, and El Sherbini and Farag have commented on competing with them, both of who have expressed their admiration towards their opponents and of their exceptional skills.
