Pro-Palestinian Cola Brands Set to Challenge US Giants in the Middle East
Two pro-Palestinian cola brands, Gaza Cola and Palestine Drinks, are preparing to launch across the Middle East, offering an alternative to Western soda giants Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
These socially driven brands aren’t just offering a new taste—they’re fueling a movement, with 100% of profits directed to aid efforts in Gaza and the West Bank.
As consumer awareness of global issues grows, so does the demand for brands that align with values of justice and solidarity.
According to Arabian Gulf Business Insight (AGBI), the surge in interest stems from a shift away from US brands that are supporting Israel. This trend is tangible, with NielsenIQ reporting a 7% decline in sales for Western soda brands in the region this year. The stage is set for these homegrown alternatives to take the spotlight.
Gaza Cola: From Local Launch to Global Aspirations
Since its UK debut, Gaza Cola has captured hearts—and taste buds—at an astonishing pace. Under the leadership of Osama Qashoo, the brand’s initial batch of 300,000 cans flew off the shelves in under three weeks.
Now on its third production cycle, Gaza Cola is gearing up to expand into markets such as Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and Dubai, with plans to adapt to local tastes and regulations.
Gaza Cola is about more than just business. Every purchase contributes to rebuilding efforts in northern Gaza hospitals, making this fizzy drink a symbol of hope and resilience.
Palestine Drinks: A Brand Rooted in Purpose
Founded by four Palestinian-Swedish entrepreneurs, Palestine Drinks isn’t just about quenching thirst—it’s about identity. With a monthly production of 2.5 million cans, the brand is doubling capacity to meet growing regional demand. Plans to collaborate with manufacturing facilities in Egypt, Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are already underway.
“This brand represents who we are,” co-founder Mohamed Kiswani explained. Beyond the beverage itself, Palestine Drinks channels its profits into the Safad Foundation, a Swedish charity supporting emergency aid in Gaza and the West Bank.
Looking ahead, the team envisions funding health center reconstructions and housing for orphans, reinforcing their commitment to long-term change.
The Role of Activism: How BDS is Changing Consumer Habits
The Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement continues to influence purchasing decisions across the Middle East. In nations like Egypt and Bangladesh, local soda brands such as V7 are thriving, while Western counterparts face a marked decline in popularity.
The rise of Gaza Cola and Palestine Drinks underscores how grassroots initiatives can rival even the most established brands. These beverages are not just drinks—they’re statements reflecting the power of activism and cultural pride in shaping market dynamics.
A New Wave in the Soft Drink Industry
The upcoming introduction of Gaza Cola and Palestine Drinks to the Middle Eastern market marks more than a simple shift in preferences. These brands symbolize a movement driven by solidarity, community, and charity.
With profits funding critical projects in Gaza, every can purchase tells a story of empowerment and hope. As they expand their reach, Gaza Cola and Palestine Drinks show that businesses with purpose can thrive in competitive markets while making a meaningful impact.
