Picasso’s Femme A La Montre Makes UAE Stop During World Tour
Pablo Picasso’s Femme a la Montre is going on a world tour before being auctioned off in New York, and it will make an appearance in Dubai on September 26 and 27.
This painting of Picasso’s lover and ‘Golden Muse’ Marie-Therese Walter is considered one of his most important works as it goes under the hammer with an estimated value of $120 Million USD.
Picasso was suffering an artistic block until he met Marie in the early 1930s and her presence in his life was quite influential.
This was to the extent that there was a collaboration between the Musée National-Picasso in Paris and Tate Modern in 2017 to showcase paintings centered around her.
Sotheby’s Dubai will be housing the artwork on its Middle Eastern leg of the tour marking this the first time this piece making an appearance in the region.
You can check it out at the DIFC between 2pm – 5pm on Monday the 25th and 10am – 7pm on Tuesday the 26th.
