Meet the Unsung Heroes Behind Sarah’s Bag
Sarah’s Bag is a Lebanese fashion house that creates luxurious and one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bags, as well as accessories that empower not only the women who make them but also the women who wear them.
Sarah started her journey in design during her final year of university; before earning her degree in sociology she conducted research on Dar Al Amal (an NGO that aims to reintegrate women at risk and female ex-prisoners) which led Sarah to take her designs to prison three times a week to work with a group of inmates specifically trained to create chic, handcrafted clutches and handbags that will just take your breath away.
In an effort to show the human side of the project, the design firm launched a social media campaign called “Meet Our Unsung Heroes”, shining a spotlight on the women behind the brand and their individual stories. These women eventually became the sole artisans that formed Sarah’s Bag. Later on, the team grew to 200 women, including prisoners, ex-prisoners and underprivileged women in Lebanon, giving all underprivileged women in Lebanon a chance to start a new life to reintegrate into their societies and most importantly become financially independent.
