Meet Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah: Kuwait’s Newly Appointed Crown Prince
Continuing Kuwait’s prominent monarchy is its newly appointed crown prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah. Last Saturday, Kuwait’s ruling emir announced the country’s new crown prince.
Who Is The New Crown Prince?
Before taking the throne, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah served as the prime minister from 2019 to 2022. The Sheikh has an extensive diplomatic background that includes roles such as being Kuwait’s permanent representative to the United Nations, ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and foreign minister.
His roles were numerous. In 1998, he was appointed head of Kuwait’s National Security Bureau at the rank of minister. In July 2006, he was named Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, and he remained in that role until October 2007.
When it comes to his education, he got a degree in political science from Kuwait University back in 1977, an apt degree considering his fruitful career in Kuwait’s political landscape.
His Honors & Awards
With such a politically driven career and prominent positions within the ministry, Al-Sabah earned many awards and honors, including the Two Niles Order in 2012, the National Order of the Lion in 2015, and the Al-Quds Star Order in 2018.
Now, as the new crown prince, he has new responsibilities within the Kingdom of Kuwait following his distinguished background of public service for his country.
