Meet the Featured Instagrammers of Egypt: @ahmad_abi
Instagram is the only social network that has managed to create its own true community. The people behind Instagram were smart enough to encourage Instagrammers to challenge each other visually, resulting in Instagram’s eminent growth in a relatively short time. The most well-known Instagrammers of the world have all found clever ways to get instagram followers and bring much more attention to their page. And try their best to keep engaged with all of those followers, however, sometimes they need help from companies similar to kenji.
With their weekend hashtag projects, featured users, suggested users and Instameets, they’ve ensured massive user engagement and lots of alluring shots.
I talked to the 11 Egyptian Instagrammers who have been specially featured and suggested by the official Instagram account to unravel the secrets of their photo successes.
We’ll be featuring them all this week, stay tuned!
Ahmad Abi (@ahmad_abi)
Abi, a 30 year old with a license to kill, yet he ditched medicine to pursue a career in photography. Famous for his ducks and vibrant pictures, he doesn’t like to call himself a photographer, but he believes he has some ideas. With his unique and colorful style, he defines conceptual and creative photography in Egypt.
Abi was the first Egyptian to be featured by Instagram alone. “Actually, I was featured twice; once in the weekly Instagram competition where I participated in the suggested hashtag #WHPtelephone, the second time was after a member of Instagram team saw my #stuffedhair series and sent me an e-mail to say that they want to feature it,” he told us.
Abi uses a professional camera, the Nikon D7100, and says that being featured by Instagram was a target for him but he didn’t expect it to happen that soon. “Now, after being featured, I try my best not to change the way I use Instagram because they picked me the way I am, so why shall I feel stressed and change it?!”
He also managed to win a trip with @PeetaPlanet among other 12 instagrammers from around the globe to visit Dubai. “I was asked to post photos to document the journey through my Instagram account; it was such a fun experience.”
I guess they need to make giant instant sheets to capture “Burj Khalifa” in the frame.. #MyDubaiTrip #throwback #peetaplanet Thanks @ahmed_yaqub for helping A photo posted by ahmad_abi (@ahmad_abi) on
Abi prefers to call himself an Instagrammer more than a photographer. “Because of Instagram, I got lots of job offers due to the exposure I had after being featured. I also got to know lots of new people from different countries, either online or in person, which is a great addition to my life and work experience.”
He says he would love to see @shewifa and @nohabahr from Egypt to be featured, as well as @amoniak from Tunisia. In the future, Abi would love to do Art Direction professionally and have his own exhibition one day.
WE SAID THIS: Stay tuned for the other featured Instagrammers!
