Meet Dana: Bahrain Islamic Bank’s First Virtual Employee

How the future of our world is going to look continues to reveal itself one bizarre announcement at a time. Everything is becoming more digitized, with artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) becoming more influential than ever in many fields.

The Arab world isn’t doing what it should to adapt and utilize the technologies we’re being exposed to. However, some Arab states are taking steady steps to be ready for what’s next, including the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) just announced the appointment of Dana, its first digital virtual employee. The new staff member will be helping the bank’s innovation drive in its services.

Dana will be taking the lead in providing information on the bank’s products and services, digitally providing tips and insights on FinTech and financial trends.

“Dana is our first virtual Bahraini employee. This milestone is a step in a long journey of continuous improvement and discovery for BisB in trying to transform the culture of the bank into one of innovation and technology. Our ultimate goal here is to make banking with BisB as seamless and pleasant as the use of a smartphone,” said CEO Hassan Jarrar.

In recent years, there have been major developments in virtual beings, paving the way for what we’ll see from AI, AR, and VR in the future. Virtual celebrities and virtual influencers have been rising in popularity. Virtual characters that talk on YouTube or pose on Instagram, and are being taken more seriously than one would like to believe.

One of the most popular is Shudu, a computer generated supermodel who currently has more than 170 thousand people following her on Instagram.
