Google and Apple Reportedly Remove Palestine From the Maps, But Was It Really There?

By Malak Khaled

Social media accused Google Maps of removing Palestine from the worldwide map; however, this is very confusing because Palestine was never really on the map to start with.

A Google spokeswoman commented on this situation saying, “There has never been a ‘Palestine’ label on Google Map, however, we discovered a bug that removed the labels for ‘West Bank’ and ‘Gaza Strip’. We’re working quickly to bring these labels back to the area.”

However, people were enraged caused them to begin expressing themselves using the hashtag #PalestineIsHere. The reason this is confusing is that Palestine hasn’t been on the map, to begin with, which Google addressed back in 2016.

So, why the sudden outrage? People have been fighting for years for Palestine to be on the map and it has always been an area of controversy, due to many problems including the fact that its official borders have never really been confirmed.

WE SAID THIS: What do you think?
