Egyptian Gets Beaten in Italy, Father Seeks Help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Mansy Makram of Minya, is a 17-year-old who sadly had no other option but to heroically travel to Italy to help his parents provide for his siblings’ education and living costs. One day, while taking a stroll in the city with his Egyptian workmates, unknown offenders took them by surprise and knocked them out, according to a report by Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Makram was severely injured and is being medically treated in a hospital in Rome. His workmates confirmed that the attack was not theft-driven. According to Masry Al-Youm, his father has been pleading the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help him travel to the Italian capital to check on his eldest son.
What happened to Makram is like a minimized replica to what happened to the late Gulio Regeni – however far less political and in resulting in far less damage. But is the public/governmental reaction the same or even close? We hope it gets the right amount of attention.
WE SAID THIS: We wish Mansy a speedy recovery.
