Egyptian Entrepreneur Ameer Sherif Named ‘Young Global Leader’ by World Economic Forum
The CEO and Co-founder of Cairo-based online recruitment platform Wuzzuf, Ameer Sherif, has been selected as a Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum, among 127 other individuals from different regions. He was selected based on his professional accomplishments and his great potential to influence and advance our future.
Ameer happens to be one of a total of 12 from our region to make it to the ‘Class of 2019’, a five-year program that selects 100-150 individuals every year to be recognized as young global leaders.
Being a Young Global Leader, Ameer will take part in executive courses at top institutions so he could form new insights, as well as practical training in different areas. He will get the chance to interact and collaborate with other global leaders at numerous summits and workshops.
Back in 2009, Ameer founded BasharSoft, two years post finishing his master’s degree in Computer Engineering at Cairo University. During those nine years, BasharSoft’s Wuzzuf and Forasna; two leading recruitment portals, have helped over 20,000 companies to hire more than 250,000 people!
To actually be selected for such a prestigious program is very inspiring for today’s youth, taking into consideration that many other distinguished business and governmental leaders, as well as social entrepreneurs, have been recognized by the World Economic Forum in the previous years. Those include names like Mark Zuckerberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, Larry Page, Eyad Al-Kassar, and many more!
The efforts of using technology as a way to solve our societal problems and challenges are highly viewed and appreciated by the local entities who are actually directly affected. Most importantly, of course, being valued by such a global entity like the World Economic Forum is a huge privilege.
