Egyptian Bookworms, Get Ready for The Golden Celebration of the Cairo International Book Fair!

For book lovers, Cairo international book fair set some announcements for its 50-year edition that will be held in 2019, in Ard el-Maared, Nasr city. Visitors stroll around searching for favorite books, novels, education materials, and any other printed form of text, in all languages of the world. The selection is massive and enormous with the best prices.

Cairo International Book Fair started in 1969. Tharwat Okasha, the Minister of Culture at the time, decided to commemorate the millennium culturally and launched the Book Fair. The Fair is considered the most important event in the Arabic publishing world. In 2006, it was the second largest book fair in the world after the Frankfurt Book Fair. It’s held at the end of January, usually on Wednesdays, and runs for around 12-15 days.

Egypt’s Postal Office posts stamp that resembles the special logo of the fair’s 50 edition. The stamp will be placed in postal envelopes to advertise for the upcoming event. The Arab League has chosen to be the guest of honor of the book fair. Haitham el-Hag, Head of the Egyptian General Authority for Books, announced that Serbia is participating for the first time in the Cairo International Book Fair’s Golden Jubilee.
