Egyptian squash players Tarek Momen and Omar Mosaad also competed at the championship, Momen exited the tournament in the semifinals after he lost to Rösner. While Mosaad lost to Paul Coll from New Zealand by 3-0.

Rösner started strongly, after defeating the Egyptian Tarek Momen, but Farag was able to turn the game to his favor, exerting consistent pressure until he was able to win the match after 51 minutes.

Farag’s last title was at the U.S. Open where he won the first World Series title of his entire career.

“When you play against such a clean and a fair player, it is always fun to be on court. Simon is one of my best peers on the tour,” said Farag commenting after the final.
