Dubai Is Set to Break a New Record with the Tallest Hotel in the World

With Dubai already home to the tallest building in the world, the famous Burj Khalifa, you wouldn’t think that it would continue its architectural feats… Yet, it only seems to strive for more. The modern city will soon be home to the tallest hotel in the world, known as Ciel Dubai Marina.

How Tall Are We Talking?

Once it is completed, the hotel will take over the Dubai skyline at a height of 365 meters. It will be home to 82 floors, and along with that, there are talks that there will be enclosed landscaped terraces throughout the height of the hotel.

Designing Big in Small Spaces

The hotel’s status as the tallest in Dubai isn’t its only special aspect. Its creator, Yahya Jan, the president and design director of the architecture and engineering firm NORR, had to face a major obstacle with the hotel.

He is tasked with designing a skyscraper on a triangular plot of land at Dubai Marina, which has an area of just 2,500 square meters — a small footprint for a building of that height. “The constraints were tremendous, and yet we had to make it work,” Jan told CNN.

Its Coolest Features

Beyond its majestic height, Ciel Dubai Marina will have some cool features, including a glass observation deck that will offer 360-degree views of the city and the coastline. It will also be energy efficient, using 25% less power for air conditioning.

The new hotel is expected to be completed in 2024 and will soon join Dubai’s skyline of massive skyscrapers.
