Decades Of Backing: US Contributions To Israel Reaches $130 Billion Amidst Gaza’s Tragedy
Since the beginning of the Gaza genocide, it was made clear to the world that the US is aiding the Israeli army. From October 7 until now, 230 cargo planes and 20 ships loaded with weapons and military equipment were sent to the Israeli army by the US. According to the Yediot Ahronoth newspaper, the Israeli army received artillery shells, armored vehicles and basic combat equipment.
This alliance goes back way beyond the October 7 attacks as the US has been aiding the Israeli army for over 70 years now. They are Israel’s biggest supplier of military aid contributing around $130 billion. The numbers say it all as between 1950 and 2020, more than 80% of Israel’s weapons imports came from the U.S. Along with that are other major benefits like how Israel is given access to some of the most advanced military equipment including F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. US support is not just in the form of supplying military equipment in addition to the aid, the US and Israel have performed several military drills together.
Today, their alliance remains strong as since the beginning of the war, the US financially aided Israel in a war that is now totaling 65 billion shekels ($17bn).
