By Nada Hamouda
On Wednesday, state statistics agency CAPMAS revealed that Egypt’s unemployment rate dropped to 9.9% in the second quarter of 2018 with the number of unemployed being 2.9 million. The rates are actually down from 11.98% during the same period last year.

However, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics estimated the unemployment rate at 10.6% during the first quarter of 2018. Hence, these numbers indicate that the rate has been falling steadily in recent months due to the Egyptian government’s program of economic reforms.
