Bowie Goes To Space!
Looking to gain a couple of thousand followers on twitter? Or having half a million people log in to watch you brush you teeth in the morning? If so, we think we have the answer for you, get on a space ship, fly to space and upload a video of yourself singing a cover of david bowie’s space oddity.
That’s exactly what astronaut Chris Hadfield did. After posting a video of himself in outer space with a flying guitar and a twist on the 1969 classic Hadfield, who has been dubbed as the “coolest guy in outer space” has become a social media star having been retweeted 9, 000 times in the first 4 hours of posting the clip.
The cover was such a hit that bowie himself has recognized it and tweeted the cover form his own profile followed by a “Hallo Spaceboy…” remark.
Commnader Hadfield has been sharing his experiences in space for the past 5 month and has gained quite the fan base. Experiences include an experiment recommended by a middle school class in Nova Scotia that involved Hadfield wringing a wet cloth in space.
Additionally, stunning pictures of earth from outer space have also surfaced on the internet curtsey of the Canadian astronaut. Have a look at the gallery here.
The live experiences are soon coming to a closure with a grand finale landing in Kazakhstan in the next couple of days.
