We Asked People About Their Most Memorable 3edeya and Here’s What They Said
Eid is here, and with it, comes our favorite thing in the whole world: 3edeya. We’ve asked a few people to dig up some memories and open up about the 3edeya they remember the most, the one that truly made their Eid, and here’s what they said.
“This one time I got more than EGP 1700 in one Eid, lessa ba2ool heeih, mom then took them from me telling me that I should save all that money and she’ll do it for me.”
“One Eid, after I was called to take my 3edeya from my grandma, I found that she gave me two extra EGP 100 notes. I went back to tell her, she told me to keep them as a reward for being honest!”
“In my family we don’t do gifts, so my aunts and uncles would give me money instead. One year Eid happened on the same day as my birthday and I was given my 3edeya twice! Now that is a 3edeya I can’t forget.”
“What 3edeya?”
“I grew up in the Gulf so when my family moved back to Egypt we finally had people to celebrate Eid with and I got 3edeya from a lot of people for the first time ever, it was quite the experience!”
“Eid for me as a child was all about getting fake guns with plastic bullets. I remember getting a 3edeya one Eid and I went to the shop to buy one for the very first time and it was everything. The world back then was so simple and enough.”
“My favorite 3edeya was never money. My dad used to work in Kuwait. I was so used to him not being home. So used to him not being with us it was quite depressing, actually. But one Eid he never told us he was coming back and he surprised everyone at home with his return.”
“The first time I was allowed to pray the Eid prayers was one of my favorite moments. In a way, it was my 3edeya because my mother spent years refusing to let me go out that early with friends to pray.”
